A real delight to read about activities in Sheffield. Prayer is good, yes . . . ummmm ... but ... soul??? whose soul? what soul? Unless you mean like rhythm and blues soul, the ever changing spirit, essence and life of a person?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes, I meant more in the poetic sense of the word rather than as a reference to an "eternal soul".... prayer is good for the heart if you prefer :)

Heart & Soul!

[...] April 3, 2007 by dp We met for our Amida Sheffield sangha evening last night. We have recently been joined by Sharon and her husband Taifong from Taiwan. Sharon has been studying at the local university. They will be with us until the summer and it has been a pleasure to have their company. our service includes chants and recitations in various languages, and the walking nembutsu in chinese has had an added resonance. It was a relaxed evening, much needed it seemed, as everyone appears to have had a busy few weeks. I have written a short post for the Sheffield site. [...]

We've just been to the Stupa! Dh. Pr. Miao-san and I went last Sunday for the blessing ceremony, it was wonderful to be there.

The atmosphere in Brookwood was very ethereal, on the edge of this world and the next especially with the Gagaku music playing - moving stuff.

Was good to see you (briefly) take care,

Its about lack of expectation. You give what you have to give and don't worry about repayment. You worry about being the best you can and leave the rest up to the universe.

Yes indeed! Thank you for drawing my attention back to this quote. It seems to touch the heart of many people

We held a vigil on Thursday of last week and are planning another. Does it make a difference? I don't know but it did touch some peoples hearts. And the alternative is to do nothing....which doesn't seem possible.
